Pushing your climbing grade is a process that involves working on the different aspects of climbing separately to integrate them at a later stage. In addition to safety & rope work, the main aspects to focus on are: movement & technique, physical attributes and the mind. Outdoor climbing is a movement based sport and choosing the correct climbs to have the correct progression is crucial. My tips to improve your movement skills are:
Repeat those routes & movements you find awkward until they become familiar.
If you cannot achieve them without weighting the rope (or they feel very difficult), try using rope assistance from your climbing partner. This will help you to get a good idea of the body positions you need use.
