For those of you who have recently started climbing and you are hearing or reading about all these different climbing disciplines… you are probably asking yourself … what is ‘multipitch climbing’?
Multipitch climbing involves climbing long rock faces is several stages. One rope length would not be enough to finish that climb, so you will need to make this ascent in manageable, safe sections. These sections are usually between 20 and 35 meters long and have reliable, strong anchors separating them. These anchors are usually set on ledges, to allow you and your climbing partner to meet and organize your climbing equipment to use it in the next section.
The more appealing aspect of multipitch climbing is that you will be ‘in the heights’ for a considerable amount of time, only back on the ground once you finish all the sections.
Below are a few pictures of our last multipitch climbing course in El Chorro, province of Málaga.
